He can often be found at region and national fly fishing shows selling fly tying materials, tools, hackle and fly tackle. He is based in the Finger Lakes Region of Upstate New York , and is an avid fly fisher for just about anything that swims.
His web site is www.eflytyer.com or email him at Mike@eflytyer.com, or call 607-347-4946.
Mike Hogue drops by and offers us some variations of one of the all time popular trout flies - the Prince Nymph. By adding "a little flash and glamour", we have a few new things to try the next time we're getting skunked and want to try something different.
Without a doubt, dubbing tools and techniques are one of the things most likely to confuse fly tyers. With an explosion of new tools, comes an obvious question, how do you use all this stuff and why should I buy yet one more tool?
You know Murphy's Law; what can go wrong will go wrong. Accidents happen, even on a fishing trip, so be prepared. Mike Hogue helps you be ready for the unwanted eventuality.
This is a muddler design type of fly that is more or less a derived idea based on something that has been copied many times, but never the less an efficient fly that has caught the author many fish.
Mike Hogue bought a new solo canoe this summer. After fishing and using his solo canoe for awhile, he is now wondering why he waited so long to buy this boat.
Having a hard time finding new fishing locations is a common complaint. How about using your bike to go new places? Mike Hogue introduces you to the combination of biking and fishing.
The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this. See more details about what you can do to help in this blog post.
The Global FlyFisher was updated to a new publishing system early March 2025, and there may still be a few glitches while the last bits get fixed. If you meet anything that doesn't work, please let me know.
